DISCOVER THE NEW FRAUSCHER 1017 GT.

23. January 2024

Frauscher designer Stephan Everwin on the new generation Frauscher 1017 GT – the most successful motorboat of its kind. Its world première will be celebrated in January 2024 at the Düsseldorf International Boat Show. Every detail blends harmoniously into the overall effect while offering a clear, forward-looking vision. The project to upgrade the Frauscher 1017 GT came with particular challenges. It was vital to find a balance between familiar stylistic elements, new features, and the aspiration to update the entire boat in line with Frauscher’s evolving design standards. Another consideration was that the Frauscher 1017 GT has an extensive fan base. Their high expectations and the joy of being able to revitalise the magic of an absolute icon combined to generate powerful motivation. Both for the design team and for the developers around Thomas Gerzer.

Dynamic design vocabulary

Among the most distinctive features in the updated range of models are the lateral air inlets on the hull. These emphasise the sporty character of the 1017 GT and evoke its larger siblings the 1212 Ghost and 1414 Demon. Rounded protective trim around the air inlets gives the boat a dash of modern elegance that combines seamlessly with the design of the latest model. The upholstery has been completely redesigned. The berths are now longer and feature comfortable convex areas at the sides that support the boat’s dynamic alignment. An extended and widened bathing platform not only provides more space at the stern but also creates a harmonious final design element.

Rich in contrasts and with fresh contours

The updated instrument panel features a brilliant and completely new design. The panel has a black finish and is organised with plenty of space for modern display devices. These offer an exciting contrast to the classic circular instruments with their stainless steel trim. The windscreen has been given a new shape that rounds off the overall appearance.

The Interior: an experience

The interior has also been revised down to the very last detail: with more generous, padded seat backs for luxurious comfort, diagonal ceiling struts for more space, and a ceiling panel with indirect lighting as an additional highlight. The kitchen features cupboards in exclusive oak. Retractable taps and other sophisti- cated details make this a perfect kitchen out on the water. Visitors to the bathroom will find a side panel (also in fineline oak) with a shelf and a minimalist modern washbasin unit made by Laufen.

But there have been plenty of functional upgrades too: the significantly enlarged bathing platform allows space for a wider swimming ladder with 4 teak steps and automatic, telescopic, stainless steel handles that make it even easier to get in and out of the water. The redesigned instrument panel now comes as standard with a 16″ multifunctional display (previously 9″) for navigation, engine data, sonar, controls for audio, lighting etc. For the first time, the Frauscher 1017 GT can also optionally be equipped with joystick control and autopilot, making it even easier to drive in any conditions. If desired, the cabin can be air conditioned and the LED ambient lighting in the cockpit has been extended.

As previously, the 1017 GT can be fitted with various petrol or diesel engines from 2x 320 to 2x 430 hp. The Frauscher ship- yard has its own painting facility, where the boat can be given an 11-coat finish in the customer’s desired colour. Standard fittings include teak wood across the entire surface of the foredeck, cockpit and bathing platform, a bow thruster, rear shower, extensive sunshade, electric toilet and two fridges. Customers may also optionally upgrade the standard audio system to a high-end system offering 12 speakers and 2 sub- woofers. Another standard feature in this new generation model is the Frauscher app, which allows owners to inspect their boat’s position, battery charging status, remaining fuel or the Frauscher 1017 GT logbook.

There are lots of individual changes that contribute to the new look. The result is a more sophisticated exterior, a more comfortable interior, and overall a more emotive design.
